This study examined the relationship among financial performance, CSR and CSR motivation. We use the China A-share listed companies as the sample from 2013 to 2015. We obtained CSR score from RKS database and financial data from the CSMAR database. Based on prior research, we posit that CSR is significantly related with financial performance. In addition, we investigated the effect of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and developed areas on CSR, respectively. CEO’s characteristic was measured as composite career background and academic experience and we analyzed the relationship between CEO’s characteristic and CSR practice. All of the analyses were performed by STATA 13 program. The results of our research indicate that CSR has significant and positive influence on financial performance. Moreover, the nature of enterprise, the regional development level, CEO’s characteristics are significantly and positively related with CSR practice.
